Traceability Report Framework

TRF (Traceability Report Framework) packages the evidence that complex products meet safety, security, and regulatory requirements. Each TWPack bundles artifacts, relationships, and provenance so teams, suppliers, and auditors can verify compliance from a single file.

Why Traceability Fails Today

  • AI/ML systems rely on data lineage and model evidence that do not map cleanly to traditional requirements.
  • Tool sprawl scatters tests, approvals, and releases across disconnected silos.
  • Multi-tier supply chains exchange PDFs and spreadsheets, making verification slow and manual.

What TRF Delivers

CapabilityDescription
TWPackDeterministic ZIP archive containing manifest.json, artifacts.jsonl, links.jsonl, and provenance.json.
Modular schema4 core artifact types plus 64 domain-specific extensions across 10 domains, configurable through profiles.
IntegrityOptional signatures and JSON Schema validation for consistency and tamper evidence.
AnalysisCLI tooling for queries, coverage checks, and automated reporting.

Who Uses TRF

Automotive (ISO 26262, ISO 21434, UN-R155/156, ASPICE), AI/ML governance, aerospace (DO-178C), medical devices (IEC 62304), and any supply chain that needs audit-ready traceability.

Workflow at a Glance

  1. Extract artifacts and metadata from source tools.
  2. Transform the data into TRF schemas and relationship links.
  3. Package and optionally sign the TWPack bundle.
  4. Validate completeness and distribute to stakeholders.

Next Steps

Current Version

v2.1.0 — Three-track architecture with complete OSS toolkit. Simplified JSON-based format optimized for 10K-100K artifacts. See the TRF repository and changelog.

Three-Track Strategy

TRF delivers value through three complementary tracks:

  • Track 1: Format Specification — Open standard twpack format (ZIP + JSON), MIT licensed, vendor-neutral
  • Track 2: OSS Toolkit — FREE production-ready tools for 10K-100K artifacts (this release)
  • Track 3: TraceWeave Enterprise — Commercial platform for 100K-400M artifacts with AI features
